Mayor Michael Victorino announced today the reopening of additional businesses and activities starting Monday, June 15.
“Maui County continues to see a very small number of new cases and maintains the highest rate of testing per capita in the state,” Mayor Victorino said. “These two factors are crucial in allowing us to reopen more services and activities for our residents, which also supports our Kamaʻaina economy.”
The updated Public Health Emergency Rules, which includes health and safety modifications associated with the reopening, are available on the County of Maui’s website at www.MauiCounty.gov.
Indoor & Outdoor Gatherings Expanded
Indoor gatherings have expanded to a total of 50 persons.
Outdoor gatherings have expanded to a total of 100 persons.
Groups within gatherings are still limited to 10 people maximum, with exceptions for sports practices.
Example: 5 groups of 10 persons for indoor gatherings
Physical distancing of at least 6 feet between separate groups must be maintained.
Bars to Reopen on Monday, June 15
Limit occupancy to NO more than 50% of the maximum capacity.
Limit groups to up to 10 people within the bar.
Groups must maintain at least 6 feet distance from other groups.
Bars are encouraged to designate areas to separate groups through ropes or other physical separation for standing areas and seating.

Have customers enter and exit through different entries.
Implement cashless and receiptless transactions.
Canoe Paddling to Resume on Monday, June 15
Six-person and 12-person canoe paddling will be allowed starting Monday, June 15.
Anyone sick or exhibiting symptoms shall not participate.
Paddles and other equipment should not be shared.
Paddlers should follow proper hygiene protocols; gloves and masks are encouraged, but not required.
Outdoor Organized Team Sports
Outdoor organized team sports are being phased in at County Park facilities beginning Monday, June 15.
Phase 1: Team-based practice and skill-building drills allowed to resume Monday, June 15.
Phase 2: Competitive team play may resume July 1.
This includes outdoor team sports such as baseball, softball, soccer, outdoor volleyball, outdoor basketball and other similar outdoor team sports.
County outdoor basketball courts are open on a first come, first serve basis.
Football and Rugby practices will not be allowed to start at this time.
Guidelines will need to be met to ensure safe Return to Play. The Parks department will be reaching out to all League coordinators with existing outdoor field permits.
Physical distancing of 6 feet or more between individuals may generally be maintained.
NO close contact activities, including, but not limited to, huddles, high fives and handshakes.
Groups are limited to a single Sports Program team, or a maximum of 30 participants, including players and coaches, whichever is less.
All League Coordinators and participants shall follow guidance from the CDC and Return to Play guidelines developed by the National or State Associations that govern local leagues.
